Aerobond Group Pty Ltd is a privately held business, comprising of Aerobond Pty Ltd and Aerobond Defence Pty Ltd.  We specialise in advanced composite, sheet metal, welding repair and manufacturing work, for an established and well-respected blue-chip companies.  Based in Adelaide, Aerobond Group delivers the highest level of service and quality outcomes to a broad range of aviation and defence clients across Australia and Asia Pacific Region.  As we are growing, we are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time, experienced sheet metal repair/manufacturing technician with basic composite experience, who can carry out high quality work in a tightly regulated environment.

 

Job Overview

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be experienced and skilled in all aspects of sheet metal work, with basic experience in composite techniques.  You will need a thorough understanding of processes and procedures, attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to problem solving.  You will need to be a hands-on problem solver, able to adapt to the changing needs of our business.

 

Experience and skills

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years relevant sheet metal experience
  • Basis Composite skills (desirable)
  • Ability to demonstrate high quality technical skills
  • Experience using job management software (desirable)
  • A continuous improvement mindset

  • Problem solving skills
  • Highly detailed with excellent hand skills
  • Effective time management
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime if required

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Repair or fabricate the body or structure of an aircraft according to specifications
  • Perform moderate to advanced sheet metal repairs
  • Perform and/or assist with basic composite repairs
  • Read work orders, blueprints and specifications
  • Locate and mark dimension and reference lines on defective or replacement parts
  • Repair or fabricate defective sections or parts using metal fabrication machines, saws, brakes, shears and grinders
  • Remove or cut defective part or drill holes to gain access to internal defects or damages
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as required by company regulations and CASA
  • Perform aircraft maintenance and repair work, in-house or on-site for customers, when necessary
  • Cure bonded structures and parts using ovens and hot bonders
  • Clean, strip, prime and sand structural surface and materials prior to bonding
  • Liaise with a number of stakeholders
  • Carry out all work whilst adhering to Aerobond Group SMS and WHS policies

  • Ability to lift up to 12-23 kilograms
  • Ability to pass CASA required Drug & Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) testing
